After spending 7 days in sunny paradise we made our way back to rainy England. The UK had its wettest June sine 1910 this year and the first week of July wasn't much better - trust me.... ;)
Our first stop was Bath, England. Bath is (surprise, surprise) most famous for its Roman baths. It rained (also surprise, surprise...) during our time in Bath but we made the best of it - the Queen's smile also brightened our day ;)
The Bath Abbey was closed for a graduation ceremony but we managed to wiggle our way in to get a glimpse of the incredible stained glass windows. After having a warm soup and sandwich lunch at a local pub recommended by the nice couple we stayed with, we walked across the Pulteney Bridge.
Andrew convinced me not to pack an umbrella - what a dork - so had to buy this little cheapy one. We managed and still had a great time bouncing around town.
Along the way to our next destination we spent the afternoon at Stonehenge. We had been forewarned by multiple people that Stonehenge was not as spectacular as it's often hyped up to be. Our expectations were quite low so we ultimately were really surprised by how much we enjoyed walking all the way around the site.
The scale of this prehistoric stone monument is astounding. The audio guide was a nice way to learn about the site while slowly walking around the perimeter.
No one knows exactly when or how the stones were raised but archeologists believe the stone circle was constructed around 2400 BC.
