On Friday after work we quickly changed into some MN gear, met some friends at the BART station and rode to the Oakland Coliseum - the outdoor stadium where the Oakland Athletics (baseball) and Raiders (football) play.
The game was so fun to watch and the boys really made us proud :) It was also great to feel a little vindicated after the A's came back to tie us and some locals were giving us a hard time....but, alas we won in the 11th inning and the Twins went on later that weekend to win the series.
After the game, we were allowed on to the field to watch the AWESOME fireworks display over the stadium. We all agreed it was the best fireworks show we had ever seen - so close overhead, so many new fireworks we had never seen before, all set to great 80's hair band music!
One of our friends, Kostas (not pictured here), had never watched a baseball game before, and being from Greece, he had certainly never seen a game played in real life. It was so fun to show him one of America's great pastimes. Friday was a quintessential example of why baseball is such a beloved game here - friends, food, cheering, playful banter and (if you're lucky) the excitement of your team winning! GO TWINS!

That's pretty cool that you were allowed on the field to watch the fireworks!
