Andrew spends quite a bit of time down at the Berkeley Marina sailing, kayaking, wind surfing, etc. It was a beautiful Saturday a few weekends ago so we decided to go down to the marina and jump in a kayak for a few hours - unfortunately the tide was too low (there was actually a wind surfer having to be towed in by a sail boat because the motor boat kept bottoming out - it was slow going to get the surfer in....).
Since kayaking was out of the question we walked out on the dock which extends from the marina a good ways out into the bay. Apparently it used to go almost all the way to the city. Now it looks like this....
It was a bit windy but so nice to stroll in the sunshine.
We also checked out this awesome "playground" located on the marina where kids are given wood, paint, tools, etc. to build their own jungle-gym. It looks like a death trap but what a great opportunity for kids to learn how to saw, hammer, paint and create their own playground.
It's very Berkeley.....a bit haphazard but colorful and lively.
I wonder what new part of Berkeley we'll discover next. It really is one of the most interesting places to live!
