Let me backtrack a little . . . after leaving Taipei we flew to Singapore. We spent our time walking around the city trying to see as much as we could in the short time we were there.
The cheapest way to eat in Singapore is at the hawker centers where there are a ton of different vendors. After eating at this hawker center we discovered what a squatter was (the disgusting sibling of what we call a toilet).
Beautiful temple in the Chinatown part of Singapore.
The Merlion is one of the cities best known sights. It sits right on the harbor.
We asked the guard at the famous Raffles Hotel to take a picture with us - he was nicer than he looks here.
For my birthday we went to the Night Safari. It is like a night zoo where there are a bunch of nocturnal animals. The great thing is that you get to see a bunch of animals up close without any glass or fences between you. Our favorites were the lions and elephant.
After walking around we stopped to watch the traditional dance and fireblowing performance.
In the bus station leaving from Singapore to Kuala Lampur we met the nicest lady (seen in the background). She goes to KL every month for communion. She was giving us tips on what to eat and what to avoid. She even bought us some safe food from the market we stopped at on the way (you can see some of the steamed nuts she bought Andrew). She was wonderful!
