Our (Almost) Famous Wedding Cake

Just yesterday we found out from Penny Steele (our "cake lady") that she will be featured in an upcoming issue of Mpls/St. Paul Magazine. She did such a fabulous job on our wedding cake and loved it just as much as we did, so she has submitted pictures of the cake to be included in the magazine! We may be biased, but it was a stunning cake ;)

For those of you who were wondering, the cake was a combination of white chocolate raspberry cake and Bailey's chocolate fudge cake. YUM!

The peonies, garden roses and hydrangeas on the cake were made out of sugarpaste - that's right, they weren't real! Penny did an incredible job making them look so beautiful and realistic.

Katie showed me a picture of a Sylvia Weinstock (famous cake lady in New York) cake on the front of a magazine almost 2 years ago - I instantly fell in love with it and had Penny do her own rendition of it.

Keep your eyes open for the article. Oh man, my mouth is watering just looking at these pictures!! Wasn't it delicious?!

Hi to both of you!
That was a gorgeous cake - unfortunately we didn't get to taste it because we were outside admiring the beautiful grounds while it was being served. So if we ever get to Berkeley, maybe you can recreate it for us since you are getting into cooking now!
We look forward to seeing you soon.
